b'SUBSTANCE USE & In 2019 we invested $767,922in 9 community partners to support SUBSTANCE USE & MENTAL HEALTH DISORDERS as part of our CO-OCCURRING DISORDERS INITIATIVE.We have made significant progress toward achieving our 6-year goal: Effectively address co-occurring conditions among 6,000 patients suffering from both substance use and mental health disorders.According to research, about half of people with mental health conditions experience substance use disorders, and alcohol and drugs worsen mental health symptoms. Also, studies show the consequences of untreated or undertreated co-occurring disorders can lead to higher likelihood of homelessness, incarceration, medical illnesses, and tragically, suicide. Unfortunately, many patientsespecially those who are most vulnerabledo not receive proper diagnoses or adequate treatments. As part of our mission to provide Greensboros uninsured people with access to integrated care, 24% have received treatments for co-occurring disorders through 2019. In 2015, less than 10% were known to be receiving treatment for both conditions, and about half received no treatment at all.10 CONE HEALTH FOUNDATION IMPACT REPORT'
