b'PRESIDENTFor more than two decades, Cone Health Foundation has been at the forefront of positively impacting the health and wellbeing of greater Greensboros most vulnerable community members. We understand that when we make a difference in the lives of people who are most at risk, our entire community is strengthened. In October 2015, we launched a bold, evidence-based, strategic plan to maximize our community impact through four priority funding areas: Access to health careSubstance use and mental health disordersAdolescent pregnancy preventionHIVTogether with our partners, we are surpassing our agreed upon goals to improve community health. However, there is still work to be done1 in 6 North Carolinians is still uninsured. We must continue to support Medicaid expansion, an urgently-needed lifeline to meet peoples basic healthcare needs. Thats why we have extended our grantmaking efforts to support advocacy efforts and community collaborations. In June 2019, we partnered with Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust to fund a widely-covered non-partisan analysis sharing how North Carolina Medicaid expansion could close our healthcare coverage gap, create jobs and boost our economy. We are continuing our commitment to inform the public policy debate and keep people at the heart of our mission top of mind. In 2019, we began using mission-related investments, which generate social impact and financial returns, to extend our community-building footprint. We invested $4.75 million of our assets in two Community Development Financial Institutions with Greensboro branches: Latino Community Credit Union and Self-Help Credit Union. Both organizations enable local hard-working families from immigrant and other traditionally underserved communities to have access to essential economic opportunities. Encouraged by our community partners accomplishments through 2019, we are even more inspired to fulfill our mission: Measurably improving the health of people in the greater Greensboro area.We invite you to review our annual report to learn about our passion for improving the health of our community.
