Cone Health’s board-certified vascular and vein specialists treat the full spectrum of vascular disease for thousands of patients each year. Using advanced treatment technologies, our multidisciplinary team provides comprehensive services – from open surgery to minimally invasive procedures to wellness programs. Among the conditions we treat: • Complex Abdominal and Thoracic Aortic Disease. (p. 24-25) • Carotid Artery Disease. Our specialists have extensive experience in carotid endarterectom, which is a lifesaving procedure for people with blocked carotid arteries. For patients needing a nonsurgical option, we offer carotid artery stenting. • Peripheral Artery Disease. We perform the full range of bypass procedures for upper and lower extremities. We also offer percutaneous treatment, including stenting, atherectomy and drug-coated balloon angioplasty. The Vascular Wellness Program helps patients with peripheral artery disease improve their quality of life. • Venous Disease. Our in-office varicose vein treatments include laser vein ablation, phlebectomy and sclerotherapy. We treat deep vein thrombosis through thrombolysis, mechanical thrombectomy, venous stenting, and IVC filter placement and removal. We keep pace with the latest advances in vascular disease treatment, and our patients have many more options than they did just a few years ago. Today, we're a national leader in vascular care that's specialized for each person's needs. Wells Brabham, MD, Vascular Surgeon • Both a cardiologist and a vascular surgeon participate in all carotid artery stent procedures to help ensure quality outcomes – a quality protocol offered by few other health centers. • We offer multiple treatment options for critical limb ischemia, including minimally invasive surgery to open blocked arteries and prevent potential loss of limbs. Vascular Disease • Renal Disease. We provide comprehensive care for patients in renal failure (AV fistulas, AV grafts, hybrid grafts, HeRO grafts and permanent dialysis catheters). Patients also receive maintenance therapy, including fistulograms/shuntograms with venoplasty and stenting as well as surgery for occluded or poorly functioning access sites. • Spine Surgery Assistance. To reduce the chance of vascular injury, we collaborate with spine surgeons to provide anterior exposure for lower-back instrumentation. • Uterine Artery Embolization. In this minimally invasive treatment for noncancerous growths in the uterus (uterine fibroids), we use a slender, flexible tube to inject small sterile beads into the uterine arteries, blocking blood flow to the fibroids and shrinking them. “This is a minimally invasive alternative to traditional hysterectomy,” says vascular surgeon Gregory Schnier, MD. 26 27 ‘‘ ‘‘ CONE HEALTH | HEART AND VASCULAR CENTER CONE HEALTH | THE NETWORK FOR EXCEPTIONAL CARE
