b'Improving health is not just a responsibilityits an act of community.Have you ever taken the time to walk around East Greensboro, and specifically, the Windsor Community Recreation Center? Ive been spending a good bit of time there. It took me back to my days of fundraising for the Hayes-Taylor Memorial YMCA. These areas deserve our investment, so it was thrilling last May when voters approved the bond project to transform the Windsor center into a comprehensive community gathering space, one that will address a wide variety of needs for local residents. What a phenomenal project for the City of Greensboro and our community members to pursueand what a great opportunity for Cone Health to ask the question weve been asking a lot:How can we partner? It is deeply meaningful to work with fellow community members and colleagues to cultivate projects that strengthen our community. Were partnering with Guilford County Schools and Guilford Education Alliance to deliver school-based health care to Title I elementary schools (page 20). We invited Norman and Sylvia Samet to work closely with our team to build support for our vision to expand cardiovascular care (page 8). And as weve collaborated with the City of Greensboro, we linked a donors passion for her hometown with the opportunity to create a health hub adjacent to the new Windsor Chavis Nocho Community Complex (page 14).Love of community and a driving desire to contribute to the greater goodthats what Left to right: Mae Douglas, Dr. Mary Jo Cagle and Michelle Schneiderties us together. Mae Douglas. The Samets. Cone Health, and all of our partners. Its not about rushing in to solve challenges; its about learning how to share strengths with one another, filling the gaps where needed and creating a committed, unified body that serves the people.Every day, we ask, What can we bring to help our community members, whether its medical data, programming, care providers inside neighborhoods or donor funding? Health systems typically do not engage with communities in these ways. At Cone Health, we consider this work a form of disruption for goodan opportunity to change how we all think about the role of health care and what we believe can be possible. Prevention is possible.Greater access is possible. Innovation is possible. Hand-in-hand with our community, We will be the ones to leave a legacy for the future. Our donors sense the possibilities, and as a result, weve inspired philanthropy at Cone Health with gifts that are not only our largest-ever, but resonate deeply in the hearts of our partners and supporters.Michelle SchneiderVICE PRESIDENT & CHIEF PHILANTHROPY OFFICER2Cone Health Philanthropy'
