b'Expanding Heart & Vascular Services to Meet Community NeedsCone Healths heart and vascular services expanded in three ways in 2019. First, the Heart & Vascular Center at Moses Cone Hospital enlarged one of nine catheterization labs to increase patient access for advanced heart surgeries. The cath lab performs about 7,000 procedures per year.Second, the Heart & Vascular Center created the Advanced Lipid Disorders & Cardiovascular Risk Reduction Clinic. By assessing and treating patients with lipid disorders caused by high cholesterol early, in addition to managing other risk factors such as diabetes and hypertension, we are reducing patients risk of heart attacks, strokes and other life-threatening events, says clinic medical director Kenneth C. Hilty, MD. Third, Cone Health Medical Group HeartCare at Asheboro opened. This ninth office of CHMG HeartCare is led by three exceptional cardiologists with long histories of care in Randolph County: Robert Krasowski, MD; Brian Munley, MD; and Rajan Revankar, MD. We are constantly investing in the latest technology to keep our organization connected to our employees, physicians, patients and our communities.~Ben Patel, EVP, Chief Information OfficerCone Health Medical GroupHealth Equity InitiativeCone Health Medical Group (CHMG) continues to evolve to meet the needs of our patients in the communities we serve. As we strive to ensure that our patients have an excellent care experience every time, we know its important for patients to have access to care both quickly and conveniently. In fiscal year 2019, CHMG started an initiative to identify the factors that contribute to health inequity. The work began with a closer look at why the Asian community was at a higher risk of not being screened for colorectal cancer. CHMG partnered with the Cone Health Innovation Team to conduct this quality improvement work. The initiative included cultural research, surveys and interviews with patients to identify factors that contributed to health inequities. This initiative also developed interventions based on the findings to promote health equity and prevention for these patients. CHMG will start additional health equity initiatives in fiscal year 2020.2728'
