b'Alamance Regional Charitable FoundationAnita Black, who recently retired as an oncology nurse at Cone Health Cancer Center at Alamance Regional, has been craftily raising money for the Alamance Regional Charitable Foundations Patricia G. Bynum Fund$1 at a time! It all started at one of the Foundations annual bake sales when a group decided to add their crafts to the mix and provide a little twist.Anita had been making and collecting her homemade greeting cards for years and had boxes of them! They sold so well that she started selling them in the Cancer Center at Alamance Regional for $1 each.Little did she know, six years later, she would have raised over $20,000 for people with cancer. All of the proceeds go to the Patricia G. Bynum Fund which assists local cancer patients with basic needs, utility bills, transportation to and from treatment and gift cards for meals and food. Anita retired on January 3, 2019, but continues to teach a card-making class every other Tuesday night for cancer survivors. The unique cards are sold in the Cancer Center at Alamance Regional at the registration desk for only $1. In January 2019, Anita and her survivor team created enough greeting cards for each attendee at the Charitable Foundations Blizzard Blast event to take home a pack of four beautiful all-season cards. Anita and her husband, John, attended the event and participated in the Rose Raffle. After 200 raffle tickets were sold, Anita was the lucky winner of a gorgeous pair of earrings from Wades Jewelers. What a beautiful way of paying it forward for many years of hard work using her passion caring for others.33From left to right: Anita teaching; card bundles at Blizzard Blast; Example of Anitas work 34'
