b'Annie Penn Hospital FoundationDid you know that more than 50,000 people are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer every year, yet it is still considered largely incurable? According to the American Cancer Society, for all stages of pancreatic cancer combined, the one-year relative survival rate is 20%, and the five-year rate is 7%.The families of Leona Williams Hairston and Martha Ann Williams Wilson partnered with the Annie Penn Hospital Foundation to kick off the inaugural Finish the Fight L&M Pancreatic Cancer Fundraiser campaign on May 4, 2019. Leona and Martha were sisters who both faced pancreatic cancer diagnoses within four years of each other and later passed away. Donations to this fundraiser will be used to support the treatment of pancreatic cancer patients. Tekela Redd, the niece of Leona and Martha, helped raise $5,415 for our Cancer Center at Annie Penn Hospital in 2019. She is currently fundraising through this same campaign for 2020 to honor her aunts. This is the latest example of how, each year, Annie Penn Hospital Foundation assists individuals in our community. Without donations from individuals like you, this would not be possible. Your donation will be used to help those who cannot afford treatments, travel or medications.Pictured from left to right: David Bundy (director, Cone Health Cancer Center at Annie Penn Hospital), Tekela Redd (fundraiser), Stokes Ann Hunt (director, Annie Penn Hospital Foundation), Taylor Lake (foundation and community care coordinator), Sreedhar Katragadda, MD (physician, Cone Health Cancer Center at Annie Penn Hospital).3536'
