The advocate every
community needs
You can tell a lot about a person by the way they show up for their community. They listen closely,
rally others and quietly move big projects forward. That’s exactly how Kevin Baker, executive
director of Piedmont Triad International Airport, has shaped much of Greensboro.
His honor as the 2025 Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser from the Association of Fundraising
Professionals NC Triad Chapter reflects a pattern of service that has touched organizations across
our region.
Kevin is a trusted partner in envisioning what exceptional heart and vascular care can look like
for our community. As a member of the Philanthropy Council, he brings a thoughtful presence to
conversations with clinicians and philanthropy teams, helping us frame opportunities that honor
both current needs and future potential. His advocacy played a pivotal role in catalyzing the $7.5
million gift from Steve and Jackie Bell, a transformational investment that helped bring the Cone
Health Steven D. Bell Family Heart & Vascular Center to life.
“Time and time again, Kevin shows his love of Greensboro by sharing his expertise and leadership,”
says Michelle Schneider, vice president and chief philanthropy officer.
“As a grateful patient himself, he is an advocate for investing in our health system.”
Kevin’s impact reaches well beyond Cone Health. As supporters of the Greensboro Science Center,
he and his wife, Lynn, have been impactful advocates of its mission for nearly two decades.
Kevin now joins the Cone Health Philanthropic Foundation board, continuing a record of service
marked by a genuine desire to help this region flourish.
