Over the past year, Cone Health has
welcomed new senior leaders whose paths
to Guilford, Alamance and Rockingham
counties reflect a shared commitment to
strengthening health care across the region.
Shannon Scaturro, executive vice president and
chief operating officer; Michael Bundy, senior
vice president and president of the Greensboro
market; and Chad Boore, senior vice president
and president of the North and East market,
overseeing Alamance Regional Medical Center
and Annie Penn Hospital, arrived during a
period of steady momentum at Cone Health
as we continue advancing care that blends
excellence in acute services with prevention and
community health. Each stepped into a system
already deep into its value-based care journey,
with philanthropic support and strong ties to its
communities.
Their roles span the region, with responsibilities
ranging from enterprise operations to market-
level strategy. What unites them is a shared
focus on the people who deliver care, the
communities who rely on it and the donors
whose generosity helps move ideas into action.
Together, their perspectives offer a snapshot of
how Cone Health thinks about leadership right
now — as a collective effort to expand access,
advance quality and build a healthier future for
our communities.
Shannon Scaturro: Stewarding a system
After decades leading hospitals and health systems
across the country, Shannon Scaturro says Cone Health
felt familiar almost immediately.
“The organization, the people, the culture have just
been amazing,” he says. “Everybody is here for the right
reason.”
What impressed him most early on was how deeply
that purpose runs. “You don’t find many organizations
that are this committed to the whole person,” Shannon
notes. “It’s not just words on a billboard or in a
magazine; the organization lives it.”
He points to Cone Health’s long-standing connection to
the communities we serve across the region as central
to our identity. “Someone told me Cone Health is the
community and the community is Cone Health. They
are right! We serve this entire Piedmont Triad region
and communities in five counties,” he says. “We’ve been
very intentional about staying woven into the places we
serve. So when someone supports Cone Health, they’re
really investing in the community itself.”
