b'Philanthropy Really MattersWhat a Great Heart & Vascular Care Team & Philanthropy Can Do Together! Sarah Washington was hospitalized at Cone Health shortly after moving to Greensboro from Indiana. She had escaped a toxic relationship and was ready for a fresh start. Unfortunately, her body wasnt quite ready. At her last appointment with Mark Skains, MD, she had a lot on her mind and briey mentioned concerns about housing. Sarah was worried about where she and her 15-year-old daughter were going to live after the end of the week. Dr. Skains immediately reached out to social worker Jackie Brennan and using the Heart & Vascular Patient Care Fund, she was able to secure a safe place for Sarah and her daughter to live. Now under Dr. Skains care, Sarah is hopeful and ready to lose weight. She says, I have to stop stress eating and make better eating decisions.Dr. Skains shares, When she told me about her recent hardship with housing, I passed her name on to Jackie for support from our Patient Care Fund. I was pleased that we were able to use it for her. It felt great knowing we were able to go above and beyond the traditional ways to treat our patients and their families. Philanthropic support makes a BIG di!erence in the lives of those we serve. Thank you for being our community partner.24 2021 ANNUAL REPORT (OCT 2020-SEPT 2021)'
