b'Mother and Child Combined Care Now Offered at MedCenter for WomenCone Health MedCenter for Women is offering combined care to mothers and their babies in Greensboro. Through this program, participants and their babies will both be seen by the same providerstarting with prenatal OB care and extending through the childs fifth birthday. Instead of separating the adults care between an OB and a primary care physician, and then layering in a pediatrician to see the child separately, this program allows one physician to care for both the parent and child. This approach means the physician is getting much broader visibility into the family unit, which allows the medical professional to provide more holistic care. Some of the benefits of MedCenter for Womens Combined Care Program include:The ability for a single physician to develop a uniquely strong relationship with both the birthing parent and childin a family. This offers continuity of care throughout pregnancy and then for both the mother and the child for thefirst five years of the childs life.Eliminating the siloed care that can exist for mothers and their young children.Allowing the provider to get a more full-picture view of the family unit, resulting in care with broader context for both. Getting newly pregnant women more frequent postpartum visits than they receive in a traditional OB setting. One common issue newly postpartum birthing parents face is finding childcare for those early follow-up appointments after delivery, says Kimberly Niles Newton, MD. This combined care model really helps eliminate barriers we often see in a traditional model of care, where the birthing parent and the baby are seen by separate providers at different times and at different practices. This program is currently open to women who are expecting their first child. O c t o b e r 1 , 2 0 2 1 t o S e p t e m b e r 3 0 , 2 0 2 2 14'
