b'Expanded Mental Health Crisis Care People experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis now have expanded access to care in Guilford County. On Aug. 1, 2022, Guilford County government and Cone Health opened 16 crisis care beds to provide an immediate, safe place for observation and care for adults with significant mental and emotional health care needs. The new care unit is in the Guilford County Behavioral Health Center (GCBHC), which has been providing 24/7 mental and behavioral health care for all ages since opening in June 2021.The new behavioral health crisis center provides care for an array of needs, from extended evaluation, to help getting back into a routine medication schedule, to support for dealing with a challenging mental health episode lasting a few days.
