b'Government Affairs As a both a payor and a regulator, government can have a tremendous impact on Cone Health, our patients and our community. While Cone Healths government affairs team leads the work, the potential impact of government policies means that everyone at Cone Health must play a part in advocacy. Over the past year, we have had frontline staff tell members of Congress about their experiences working through COVID-19, Triad Healthcare Network leaders explaining how we save money through advanced payment models, the patient experience team calling state legislators about patient visitation legislation, and CEO Mary Jo Cagle talking directly to the Governor about the importance of Medicaid Expansion. Each impression has an impact on legislation important to Cone Health.Thankfully, with fewer COVID-19 patients throughout our system over the past year, we have been able to resume limited visits to facilities by public officials. Those visits are vital to connect public officials to the work that we do for our patients and to help those officials understand the impact of government policies. Notable guests included North Carolina Governor Cooper, who donned a powered air purifying respirator (PAPR) to tour the monoclonal antibody clinic at Wesley Long Hospital, and United States Congresswoman Kathy Manning who visited the MedCenter for Women. Many tours also highlighted Cone Healths innovative approach to health and wellness, including multiple visits to the Guilford County Behavioral Health Center and the new MedCenter Greensboro at Drawbridge Parkway. From left to right: NC Governor Roy Cooper, Mary Jo Cagle, MD, Brent McQuaid, MD in Wesley Long Hospitals monoclonal antibody infusion center.
