b'NEW SCHOLARSHIP FOR ASHEBORO STUDENTSThalya Letterlough was awarded the new Cone Health Scholarship through the Asheboro City Schools Education Foundation. The scholarship was presented at the Senior Scholarship Awards Night at the Asheboro High School Performing Arts Center. This is the first year for the scholarship. Cone Health recently donated $150,000 to the Asheboro City Schools Education Foundation to establish the Cone Health Scholarship. Every year, a senior at Asheboro High School will receive a $2,000 scholarship. The recipient must be someone who serves the community, participates in an extracurricular activity, has good moral character, and has been accepted to a two-year or four-year college or university.Letterlough served as freshman, sophomore, junior and senior class presidents at Asheboro High School. She took part in the schools health science academy and the mathematics honor society, Mu Alpha Theta. She plans to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I want to be able to make my future patients feel loved and as cared for and valued as my pediatricians made me feel, says Letterlough. Cone Health is building a $32.5 million MedCenter in north Asheboro off Interstate 74.
