The DAISY® Award
LEADERSHIP AND INNOVATION
The DAISY ® award was created by the Barnes family in honor of the excellent nursing care a family member received. 
Nominations are submitted by patients and families, and nurses are “ambushed” with flowers, cinnamon rolls, a scripted 
acknowledgement and great celebration. The DAISY award was implemented for Cone Health nurses in 2019. Since that time, 
we have had hundreds of DAISY nominations and 248 winners.
